Crumb Topped Chocolate Banana Bread

I had a few over ripe bananas that I needed to use today and hubby requested his favorite banana bread. If you like chocolate you're gonna want to try this non-traditional take on an old classic. Here's what you do:
Mash 2-3 bananas

Add 2 eggs and 1/3 cup oil beat well
Add: 1 1/2 cup flour, 1 1/3 cup sugar, 6 Tbsp cocoa, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Mix until well blended.
Pour into a loaf pan that has been buttered and sugared.
Throw in a handful of chocolate chips.
For crumb topping: Mix 6 Tbsp flour, 4 Tbsp sugar, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon.
Cut in 2 1/2 Tbsp butter with a pastry blender until crumbly.
Sprinkle over bread batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 - 60 minutes
Let stand 15 minutes before removing from pan.
Mmmmm Yummy!

  2. My mouth was watering just looking at it. I love anything chocolate. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I take any over ripe bananas and freeze them until I get enough to make banana nut bread. This with chocolate really piques my tastes buds.
