Show & Tell Friday

Show and Tell
I love Show & Tell Friday!
Today I pressed my Mom's wedding dress that she wore in 1961 when she married my Daddy.
In a few weeks, I'm doing the decorations for a bridal shower at our church. I thought it would be fun to display my Mom's wedding dress along with some of my other vintage wedding collectibles.
The taffeta was so wrinkled from storage but it ironed out beautifully. I really love this dress! I worked at a local bridal shop in 1990 when I got married. At the time, I never really gave much thought to wearing her dress. I guess I just wanted to choose my own....
It's funny how my tastes have changed over the years.... if I was getting married today, I would wear her dress in a heart beat!

Beautiful dress. Such a shame you didn't want to wear it when you married. Not that unusual though!!!

It is funny how our taste changes and we appreciate more things as we get older. So nice to use your Moms dress for the shower.

What a pretty dress! Our youngest daughter is getting married in October and we just ordered her dress. I think most women want to wear their own unique dress, it's when we get older, that it becomes more significant to embrace our past. I like the idea of using it at a Bridal Shower to set the mood!

I wish you had been in charge of my wedding shower, you probably weren't born yet. Anyway I love the idea of using your moms dress.

I also loved the tablecloth pillow. It gave me an idea. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love love love your banner.
What a great idea displaying the wedding dress. I got married in 1958. I saved my dress, but it turned yellow over the years and is totally useless now. Should have taken better care of it. Your Mom's looks beautiful.

Gorgeous! I love wedding gowns especially vintage dresses. I wanted to wear my Mother's sooooo badly. But she was a lot smaller than I!

What a great idea to display it for the shower. Thanks for stopping by my show n tell earlier!

That is truly beautiful! My mother's dress was much too yellowed (and TINY) for me to wear, and in turn, my girls are much bigger than I was, so won't likely get to wear mine either. And I don't mean overweight, just bigger, taller, bustier. Is it just me, or do people just keep getting bigger with each generation?

So nice to see you getting some use out of that lovely dress, though. Great idea, using it as decoration!

I wish I would have worn my Mom's dress. My sister wore our grandmother's. My girls probably won't fit into my wedding dress. Used to be a stick, a tiny size 3, & my girls are already bigger than that. They got hips & boobs from the women in my husband's family, not mine!

Dear Karoline....
The dress is exquisite...my favorite fabric. You did a great job of pressing. I bet you thought you would never get done.
Thank you for tagging me but right now I am in the middle of so many projects I could not even find my favorite book. It is a very sweet idea however.
Thank you for thinking of me and leaving a comment in my blog.

I am a bit late this week to visit you back for show and tell. Thank you so much your nice words on my S&T!

Wow, what a wonderful dress! Yes, me too, I changed my mind and I would give everything if I still had some of the things my grandmother owned. I did not treasure them years ago and we gave lots of things away!

Have a great Sunday evening!

Best wishes from Germany,
Anita
