I love Show & Tell Friday!
Today I pressed my Mom's wedding dress that she wore in 1961 when she married my Daddy.
In a few weeks, I'm doing the decorations for a bridal shower at our church. I thought it would be fun to display my Mom's wedding dress along with some of my other vintage wedding collectibles.
The taffeta was so wrinkled from storage but it ironed out beautifully. I really love this dress! I worked at a local bridal shop in 1990 when I got married. At the time, I never really gave much thought to wearing her dress. I guess I just wanted to choose my own....
It's funny how my tastes have changed over the years.... if I was getting married today, I would wear her dress in a heart beat!

Happy weekend. My show n tell is shared, I hope you can drop by sometime!!
Beautiful dress. Such a shame you didn't want to wear it when you married. Not that unusual though!!!
Susan
It is funny how our taste changes and we appreciate more things as we get older. So nice to use your Moms dress for the shower.

What a gorgeous dress! You are so lucky and blessed to have your mother's wedding dress! It is amazing. I like it that you display it too, it is perfect for a wedding shower!
Your blog is wonderful, I will be back to visit!
Hugs, Sharon
It is so beautiful. I can see my Oldest Daughter wearing a simple and elegant style like that one day. Diva Daughter will look like a merangue! Jennifer
That is a beautiful dress. That is a great idea to display it at a shower.
What a pretty dress! Our youngest daughter is getting married in October and we just ordered her dress. I think most women want to wear their own unique dress, it's when we get older, that it becomes more significant to embrace our past. I like the idea of using it at a Bridal Shower to set the mood!

Lovely vintage dress!
I wish you had been in charge of my wedding shower, you probably weren't born yet. Anyway I love the idea of using your moms dress.
I also loved the tablecloth pillow. It gave me an idea. Thanks for the inspiration.

It's beautiful! How neat that you have it and it's in such great shape!
Your mother had a beautiful dress, and I love your idea of using it as a decoration at a bridal shower.
What a stunning dress and how nice that you still have it in the family.
Lovely dress. Maybe some one else
in your family will get a chance
to wear this, it has a beautiful
neckline!
What a lovely dress!!
What a beautiful dress. How wonderful to display it. She must have looked lovely in it.

Hi Karoline! What an absolutely gorgeous dress! (it's as old as me!LOL!) I love your idea of displaying at the wedding. I think I'd keep it displayed at home too.
Cathy :)
Your Mom's wedding dress is beautiful! What a super idea to use it at the shower!
Love love love your banner.
What a great idea displaying the wedding dress. I got married in 1958. I saved my dress, but it turned yellow over the years and is totally useless now. Should have taken better care of it. Your Mom's looks beautiful.
Gorgeous! I love wedding gowns especially vintage dresses. I wanted to wear my Mother's sooooo badly. But she was a lot smaller than I!
What a great idea to display it for the shower. Thanks for stopping by my show n tell earlier!
Absolutely stunning dress! It has been well cared for and it shows.
Thanks for stopping by my show and tell.
That is truly beautiful! My mother's dress was much too yellowed (and TINY) for me to wear, and in turn, my girls are much bigger than I was, so won't likely get to wear mine either. And I don't mean overweight, just bigger, taller, bustier. Is it just me, or do people just keep getting bigger with each generation?
So nice to see you getting some use out of that lovely dress, though. Great idea, using it as decoration!
That is beautiful. I like your idea of displaying it at the wedding shower! Have a great weekend.
What an absolutly wonderful idea to show off your Mother's wedding gown. It is beautiful. I am sure you will have a wonderful time this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
~Martie
A beautiful wedding dress....worn by a beautiful bride I'm sure....my husband and I were married in 1960 so I can appreciate the dress even more......
Thank you for visiting with me....I think pink geraniums sound great in the silver bucket.....Betty
I wish I would have worn my Mom's dress. My sister wore our grandmother's. My girls probably won't fit into my wedding dress. Used to be a stick, a tiny size 3, & my girls are already bigger than that. They got hips & boobs from the women in my husband's family, not mine!

Dear Karoline....
The dress is exquisite...my favorite fabric. You did a great job of pressing. I bet you thought you would never get done.
Thank you for tagging me but right now I am in the middle of so many projects I could not even find my favorite book. It is a very sweet idea however.
Thank you for thinking of me and leaving a comment in my blog.
Pat
I am a bit late this week to visit you back for show and tell. Thank you so much your nice words on my S&T!
Wow, what a wonderful dress! Yes, me too, I changed my mind and I would give everything if I still had some of the things my grandmother owned. I did not treasure them years ago and we gave lots of things away!
Have a great Sunday evening!
Best wishes from Germany,
Anita
What a beautiful gown. My daughter is getting married in June and of course she would never have worn my gown, but the one she chose is gorgeous! Thanks for including me in our you tag, I will have to post it this week.
Sandra
