Shabby Scraps - Show Me Your Dress Form Party!

Happy August everyone!
Whoo hoo! I'm so excited today has arrived, I just love parties, and this one is going to be so fab! Thanks so much Tiffany (Shabby Scraps) for hosting today's "Show Me Your Form" party.
Ok, so I haven't been fortunate enough to find myself a vintage dress form yet, but one of these days, I'll find that perfect one for me - I just gotta believe!
In the meantime, my dear friend Stella helps ease my pining for an older form. She, being a much younger lady, happily models a white chiffon vintage 50's prom dress for me, in our living room. She's a classy lady who loves to flaunt vintage accessories like her frilly hat, waist corsage, pearls, and gloves. Stella is a lot of fun to have around!
My intentions have always been to give Stella an aging makeover. One of these days, I suppose I'll get around to it...
My form is named in honor of my maternal Grandma. While visiting my Grandparents when I was little, I'd loved to play on the exercise bicycle that was down in their dark (their very dark) cellar like basement. Grandma had a old dress form down there too, just sitting in the corner by the bike, and oh my, it always freaked me out!!! All kinds of stuff went through my head while I'd be riding the bicycle. Why didn't it have a head? What could have happened to its arms? How can it be watching me when there is no head? Is that really what boobs look like?
Can't imagine what ever happened to my Grandma's dress form. I sure wish I had it now....

Love what you've done with the form named Stella!! I've seen several "aged" forms and they look beautiful...I think you'd be happy doing that to Stella!

Ohmygosh, she's so sweet, cherished chickadee!! I had a dress very similar in high school for a dance. I just loved it and it was yellow. Sweet post, honey.

It's fun meeting you and Stella at the party! I LOVE LOVE LOVE her beautiful dress! And I love your blog too! My Gertie was "new" and I did the "aged" technique on her with paint, stain and Paris stamps. But you almost can't tell she has been "aged" because I keep her covered with so many jewels :0 ~ xoxo ~ Joy (and Gertie too)

I love Stella! She is beautiful. I am still laughing - especially your wondering how that dress form in the cellar could be watching you when she had no head!!

I wish you had your grandma's dress form too. Those things mean a lot to us don't they. If you're like me you'll end up with a dozen just trying to scratch the itch of not having the one you really want. Anyway, Stella is lovely and looks like she'd be the life of the party! Have a wonderful day! Twyla and Lindsey

Welcome to the party Stella, I love your frock! You're having so much fun with her!

Don't let my Clara know that Stella has such great clothes or all I would hear is "Stella this" and "Stella that".

Beautiful outfit on Stella--so feminine. I'd like a vintage form too but got impatient and antiqued a new one. Still on the lookout but having one to play with now does help, doesn't it?

Your form looks also! She looks like she's going to a 60's Prom! My friend, Andrea, over at www.velvetstrawberries.typepad.com also has a Stella...I love the name as it was my Grandmother's name. I also have a daughter named Caroline....love that name so much!

With a vintage dress like that and those flowers... who needs a vintage dress form?! Love the story about your grandma's form. Maybe one of these days you walk into one. I wouldn't be surprise as you are gifted with the golden junk touch I believe.
Have a nice weekend!

I love Stella! She is dressed so elegantly! That's what's fun about these forms--we can dress them up the way we would like to dress up!

Ps--your little dress should be arriving very soon.

Stella looks so poised and ready for the party, just like the photos taken before the prom. Very different from the spooky form in the basement.

Stella is GORGEOUS and that prom dress is the PERFECT dress for her -- just awesome!

Loved the story about your Grandma's dress form -- who indeed wouldn't love to have her now. I'm sure someone does, and cherishes her very much.

So glad you stopped by to visit, and so delighted to have visited you!

Ya know Karoline, I did look on Ebay and Craigs list...but I think I need to take out a loan. Somehow, I just don't think hubby will see the justification of not putting gas in the tank and buying a dress form....but do not be dismayed...I will prevail!
